Meteora: A secondary destination in Greece that offers a new experience for groups

Meteora is a region of sandstone peaks in central Greece, where monks built monasteries from the 11th century onwards. The word Meteora derives from the Greek word "meteorizomai" which means "hanging from something", and the Monasteries built on top of these rocks seem to do just that! The breathtaking views from the Monasteries combined with the lush flora and fauna of the area make Meteora the perfect backdrop for a teambuilding activity that your attendees are sure to remember: truffle-hunting!

The Natural History Museum of Meteora's Mushroom Museum has developed an amazing experience where groups can go truffle-hunting in the beautiful and untouched forests of the region, near the city of Kalampaka. Trained dogs will help visitors spot the truffles while hiking in the serene natural forest. Afterwards, experienced chefs will guide groups through the cooking process and teach them about the truffle’s secrets. Guests will then get to enjoy their handmade dish with a glass of local wine.

After lunch, take a guided tour around the Mushroom Museum, which contains a collection of approximately 250 species of mushrooms. The mushroom collection consists of handmade mushroom sculptures maintaining the similarity of colors, shapes and size. They are presented in three stages of development so that visitors can develop a complete picture of the mushroom's life cycle.

Afterwards, visitors will enjoy a unique mushroom-tasting of both savory and sweet tastes. The number of recommended participants for an authentic bonding experience is between 2 and 50 people, March to October. Mushroom-lovers preferred, but not manadatory :)
