New South Florida Landmark Set to Open in October

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has begun accepting reservations for its newly built guitar-shaped hotel. The more than 1,250-room project is a striking new addition to the western Broward County skyline and upon its October 24 opening, it will be one of the largest hotels in the tri-county area.

The hotel is part of a $1.5 billion renovation at the Seminole Hard Rock, which also expanded its convention space among other updates to the property. Rates for the new hotel component have not yet been revealed.

Here is what to expect when the hotel and casino opens in October:

  • 28,000 square feet of retail space.
  • 141,000 square feet of convention space.
  • 1,274 hotel rooms, starting at 515 square feet a room.
  • A spa atrium at 40,000 square feet.
  • Bigger Hard Rock Live stage with a capacity of over 7,000 people, which is 1,500 more than previously.
  • Daer nightclub.
  • An entrance feature called the Oculus, which will be part of a water projection show.
  • 14 restaurants.
  • 3,000 slots.

Jim Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming and chairman of Hard Rock International, said Hard Rock is on pace to finish in October, but doesn't want to open at the peak of hurricane season.

The day after the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino fully reopens, Hard Rock Live will kick off with a performance by Maroon 5. Andrea Bocelli is also already booked for the space Nov. 7.

Allen said the new space will allow Hard Rock to host a wider variety of events and performances, including live TV, boxing matches and awards shows.
