Top Five Reasons to Host Your Next Meeting or Event in the Big Apple!

New York City - Hotels abound, Broadway magic, rooftop Oasis, stunning venues, gritty dive bars, side-street snack carts, five boroughs, cultural diversity and ever-evolving. Whether you’re a first-time or frequent visitor, NYC is a city that loves to surprise your attendees.

1. A Greener Scene in NYC

The Javits Center recently completed a $1.5 billion, 1.2 million-square-foot expansion, including a 54,000-square-foot special event space; a new rooftop pavilion that can accommodate 1,500 people; a one-acre rooftop farm; 90,000 square feet of exhibit space; and more.  The venue received the LEED Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Buildings Council.

The Javits Center’s Green Roof spans 6.75 acres and has become a habitat for 35 bird species, five species of bats and thousands of honeybees. A one-acre rooftop farm will produce up to 40,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables a year, which will be incorporated into the meals provided at the venue. In addition to the farm, the rooftop event space will also feature a meadow, a shade garden, an orchard and planters with a focus on pollinator-friendly and native plants.

2. A New Era of Air Travel

The gateways to New York City have undergone exciting transformations, including brand-new terminals at LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport.  The new LaGuardia Airport follows the vision to create a unified, 21st Century airport with world-class amenities, iconic public art, state-of-the-art security, improved transportation access and additional taxiways to reduce delays.  Terminal B features 35 gates and includes new dining and shopping options such as the infamous FAO Schwarz. Terminal B is LEED Silver certified.  The new Terminal C will open in the coming months.  Later this year, Terminal 8 at JFK will debut with 130,000 square feet of new and renovated space, and construction will begin on the New Terminal One.  Newark Liberty International Airport will debut an Updated Terminal A, with 33 new gates directly connected to a multilevel parking facility.  Later this year Newark will break ground on a new 2.5-mile elevated guideway train system, which will reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and ease traffic congestion.

3. We’ve Got Rooms For You

More than 9,000 new hotel rooms will be coming to the City this year, including the Aman New York, Fifth Avenue; the Ritz-Carlton NoMad; and the Hard Rock Hotel New York, a new property offering a backstage pass to the best of midtown Manhattan.  Later this year, Renaissance Hotels will open properties in Harlem and Flushing, Queens; Moxy Hotels will open properties on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The Virgin Hotel New York City, Hotel Barriere Le Fouquet’s New York and The Fifth Avenue Hotel are all expected to open later this year.

4. Travel the World – All in NYC!

History meets hipness in this global center of finance, entertainment, media and fashion. One trip to this city and you’ve knocked out almost every continent’s worth of culture.  The world-class museums of NYC have some of the finest cultural relics from all over the world. Broadway, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden feature many of the best performers from around the globe. Food cravings? You can dine on any and every type of food imaginable. Why go to Italy when you can go to Mulberry St.?  Why do Hong Kong when you can do Chinatown? You can eat your way around the world – no passport required!

5. Leave Something Kind Behind

Come be innovative with us and minimize the environmental footprint of your event.

Team-building events are often designed with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in mind. Not only does CSR enable businesses and organizations to connect with customers, but it also creates a space for corporations to engage with the world around them in a positive way. We love to give back to the local community, including children’s hospitals, homeless shelters and food banks. What better way for your employees and clients to live your values and to become brand ambassadors!

Whether it’s a scavenger hunt highlighting famous landmarks, putting together care packages, building bikes, school and playground makeovers, park cleanups or a custom designed event, strategically aligned with your values, there’s no better backdrop than NYC to make your team feel good, while building goodwill.

Good for you, good for the environment, good for the world!
